Home for the holidays

Name: Stilton
Date of birth 04/04/2015
Arrival at shelter: 06/14/2015
At only two and a half months of age, Stilton was slated for a life in a shelter. Who could resist this adorable face – complete with puppy breath!? He caught the eye of a Canadian who simply couldn’t resist. With the adoption approved, we waited for him to come of age to leave his motherland. Stilton remained in the paddocks with his puppy friends, allowing him to romp and play like a puppy should.

In the meantime we worked to find a flight for him to come over to Canada. After a couple of hopeful, but not-meant-to-be options, we finally got him a flight on Dec 12.

It’s always so amazing to watch a transport come together in a matter of days when you have to move quickly on an opportunity. Thank you to Simonetta and Pablo for tracking down a crate at the 11th hour! Thank you Ana for telling Stilton the good news on him being adopted 😉  Thank you SHUG for giving us one of your spots! Thank you to Susan for picking him up and keeping him for a week until he travelled North. Thank you to Marlane, Kathy and Ute for making the journey from Maine to New Brunswick!

Below is a gallery of Stilton’s journey.  He also has a new name, and we think it’s the perfect fit for this Shepherd, Podenco (we think), mix.  Welcome Rufus Stilton!
